Did you know that Tsavo is the largest National Park in Kenya? Now you do. The National Park covers nearly 22000Km and its divided into 2 separate regions, Tsavo west and Tsavo east where by the Nairobi to Mombasa highway acts as a dividing boundary.

Tsavo National Park is famous for its man-eating lions and its red elephants which make this National Park unique since these type Elephants are only found here and nowhere else in the world.

Actually these red elephants have the same color as the rest of the Elephants in the world but due to their habitat they appear red. The reason as to why they appear red is due to dust bathing with the park’s red volcanic soil found in the National Park. According to Kenya Wildlife Service there are 10,000 red elephants in the park so a chance of seeing one during your visit at the park is very high.

Tsavo West National Park is a perfect tourist destination since it’s the only park that you will find the red elephant in Kenya and globally. It’s also very convenient to Mombasa giving it an ideal destination for anyone who wishes to combine the thrill of safari with some relaxing beach time.
